Text Book

 

Definition

1. A text book is a special kind of book, which has been prepared to teach a group of students of a particular discipline.

2. A text book is a written study material designed for the students as a guide to the subject contents of course of study.

In Pakistan generally text books are referred to the books published by federal and provincial text book board.

There are three types of books are:-

1. Text books ( Internal level )
2. Prescribed books ( B.A, B.Sc levels )
3. Recommended books ( specified by the teacher without prescribed )

Importance of text book

1.    Transfer of national and cultural heritage

      (Most of the examples are given according to the present environment and daily life of the living organisms)

2.    Knowledge from text book and other general books

      (Knowledge of calculating, summing and interpreting the things according to different rules of mathematics)

3.    Source of teacher

      (Teacher finds that what to teach in the class)

4.    Approval of America & UK method of books

      (We can learn different method used in other countries and can apply for new research)

5. Knowledge from experienced curriculum and activity rather cramming

      (We can give examples as it would be given in the book. Student can get help from the examples or can learn from activity which is to be done in the class)

6. Emphasis on class room teaching of text book method

    (Teacher always emphasize to solve the question according to the method given in the book)

7. Actual learning

      (What should teach the teacher and what should learn the students?)

8. General opinion, no value of text book

      (It is generally considered that there is no value of text book but actually it gives right direction to the students)

9. Learning good opinions

      (It always comprises good opinion and different method or skills by different professional experts)

10. Importance of text book for teacher

      (Teacher can find out the directions and he can give assignment to the students)

11. Breadth  of coverage and depth of understanding

       (Maximum syllabus can be covered and student can get better understanding)

10. Imparting knowledge from different resources

      (It is helpful for the teacher to give adequate resources to the students and teacher can arrange visits of the different places specially related to the calculation and mathematical work)

11. Effective aid

      (It is also used as an effective aid for the students and for teacher also)

14. Used for discussion purpose

      (Teacher can suggest topic for discussion and students can find out outlines for discussion and debate)

15. Importance in objective and subjective exams

      (Students can prepare themselves for any type of exam during the whole year)

16. Used for homework

      (It is also good source for giving assignments to the students to solve at their own efforts)

17. Attaining the experiences of previous nation

      (We may see the names of different mathematician and then we can study their efforts and job with different aspect and can learn a lot of experience from their life not maths point of view but also other aspect of their life)
